Humanist in the Closet: A coming-out guide for Humanists, Atheists, and Skeptics amid the bigotry of belief

11/22/2009 - 13:30

Are you A-curious? Have you found yourself unable to accept the supernatural aspects of religious faith? Have you ever wondered if there are others like you -- concerned about the societal pressure to conform to a religious belief but worried about the possible stigma of 'coming out'?

Meet your local Humanists - a group of people who beleive in each human being's capacity to live a valuable and ethical life without the need for (or fear of) supernatural overnight.

Come and hear how our members dealt with their own awakening, the reactions of family and friends, their desire for community, and their decision to stand up for the freedom to openly believe in reality over mythology; fact over fiction; and a better world today over a promised afterlife tomorrow.

WHEN:  Sunday, Nov. 22nd at 1:30 p.m.
WHERE: 381 Bagot Street - Common Room
